a leap of faith

three days more to go and i will be walking down the green spring aisle. i do not feel butterflies in my stomach nor sweaty palms. i just feel so blank. well, there are bursts of panic once in a while. when i remember that i forgot something important or when i think about going over the budget. but as i said to some, i am a weird bride. i am anxious that this feels so abnormal.

my charlie has been so sweet this week. i dont know what got into him. with his mellow mood i feel like im cruisin and floatin towards spring day. but i never know with him. tomorrow he might bring up the choir and the food and other things that bother him. hehehe.

the next time i blog i think i will be married and will go by the name mrs alice klarsfeld. ugh! i sound caucasian. i hate to imagine how the kids will react next year. caucasian sounding but native looking. beautiful.

next time i blog it will be married life anecdotes. it will be funny, i promise you. i may have to have a notebook for all our bloopers and culture clash anecdotes. just preparing for a wedding is both funny and intense. moments of laughters and tears. gawd. its amazing.

this is truly a leap of faith. marrying a man i dont really know but trusting in the spirit that brought us together.

some spring wedding ideas

i confess i love alutumn more than spring. but since the autumn equinox is still far off, i have to make do with spring. what i do love about spring is the freshness and the the symbolism of "new life" which lends a special feeling in the air.

i have been surfing the net this week to search for ideas. since Ph is a tropical country some of the ideas online just wont work. nevertheless, i find some that i think would be okay. i also talked to some friends and harvested great ideas!

1. for the after-ceremony breakfast, we will have suman and mangoes, hot chocolate, brewed coffee, longganiza, sinangag, fried eggs, lots of pastries, fresh fruit juices, and pandesal with kesong puti. thanks to bro. jody magtoto,sj.

2. a mini-concert of musicians and singers to serenade the guests at breakfast.

3. lots of tropical flowers during the ceremony.

4. a garden reception.

5. my wedding dress will have a dash of spring color so it wont be purely white.

6. my nieces will wear flowery dresses not gowns.

7. wedding favors will be something alive and breathing.

8. heavenly singing at the ceremony.

9. bamboo canopies with brilliant spring colors at the reception (if we can afford it. haha)

10. poetic vows. char.

i hope we can pull this off but the wedding is still more than a month away and knowing charlie, he would have changed his mind about a minute detail a hundred times before then. hahaha!!

Spring Wedding

Charlie's bestfriend Grady unconsciously chose our wedding date on the day of vernal equinox or the first day of Spring which is March 21. He will be Best Man and he only has that day available. hahaha! Charlie and I initally talked about having it on the 14th or 28th of March but since Grady is availble only on the 21st we decided to have it on that date.

I researched about Vernal Equinox after Charlie told me about it. He has been talking to his friends and found out about the coincidence. It seems pretty amazing how unaware we are of its significance.

Here's more from the web.

The vernal equinox occurs between March 20 and 21 in the northern hemisphere, signaling the official astronomical start to Spring. It is a scientifically measured moment in time as the Earth crosses the celestial equator moving northward. On the vernal equinox the sun rises at the eastern most point of its arc, perfectly balancing the hours of daylight and darkness. During this 24-hour period, night and day each last precisely 12 hours. Henceforth the sun’s arc becomes higher and higher in the sky and days longer until reaching it’s zenith on the summer solstice.

Although it is a scientific event, the vernal equinox represents in a very real way, a time of renewed life and new birth.
