Spring Wedding

Charlie's bestfriend Grady unconsciously chose our wedding date on the day of vernal equinox or the first day of Spring which is March 21. He will be Best Man and he only has that day available. hahaha! Charlie and I initally talked about having it on the 14th or 28th of March but since Grady is availble only on the 21st we decided to have it on that date.

I researched about Vernal Equinox after Charlie told me about it. He has been talking to his friends and found out about the coincidence. It seems pretty amazing how unaware we are of its significance.

Here's more from the web.

The vernal equinox occurs between March 20 and 21 in the northern hemisphere, signaling the official astronomical start to Spring. It is a scientifically measured moment in time as the Earth crosses the celestial equator moving northward. On the vernal equinox the sun rises at the eastern most point of its arc, perfectly balancing the hours of daylight and darkness. During this 24-hour period, night and day each last precisely 12 hours. Henceforth the sun’s arc becomes higher and higher in the sky and days longer until reaching it’s zenith on the summer solstice.

Although it is a scientific event, the vernal equinox represents in a very real way, a time of renewed life and new birth.

what our wedding is not

most women look forward to tying the knot. i am a little different. i am absolutely terrified. i did not grow up dreaming of weddings, gowns, cakes, dances and i do's. i was too much of a tomboy and a radical to demean myself with girlish musings. all i wanted was to write and surf the world!

now that i am at the threshold of married life, i find myself imaging what my wedding should be. there is of course the pressure from society to have the "dream wedding". the problem is i don't have a dream wedding that society would consider acceptable. why is that a problem? it is because society would judge the success of your marriage based on the way you organize your wedding. yeah, it doesn't necessarily follow. i know that in my head and most sane people would agree. but ever since i have been talking about my wedding and i tell people i dont have this and i dont have that, you can read the disappointment in their faces and the accusation that i am not normal really shows. haha!

it must be a blessing that i was born with a healthy contempt for the "usual". ever since i was a kid, i have always been accused of being weird and the oldies tend to ignore me for this. haha! i understand now. we ignore what we do not understand.

so these are the "usual" stuff you probably wont see at my wedding.

an entourage except for what the church requires. i guess we'll have a best man and a maid of honor and the sponsors and godparents.
a motiff. i dont want to burden people with a specific color.
doves and cakes. i just do not see the point.
reception program. this is a must-not! we want people to just take a hearty, healthy dinner, listen to some good music live, view some pictures, and leave.
bridal car. a van could take all of us to church.
lechon. okay, this is a laugh. but i want to make an exception for charlie. its his wedding too. but he relented a bit and said its ok as long as he can't see it. hahaha!
formal pictorials and videos. this is so ugh. camera's do not lie. and i dont want a photoshop-ed wedding.
garter and boquet fiasco. this is such a circus.
gimmicks.

so what will the wedding probably have?
lots of good music
lots of flowers
an intimate and solemn ceremony

we are getting married on the day of equinox, the day of balance--MARCH 21. :)

sixth pic -- WOAH!

I like this tagging thing nowadays. My soon-to-be inaanak Sam tagged me to show the sixth photo in my sixth folder. Actually there are only 5 photos in my sixth folder and my pic with Charlie is the 5th. Since I like this photo, I'm sharing this with you!

This was taken during one of our Marco Outings. Both of us love to swim and we actually stayed the whole day in the pool! Charlie loves to sunbath and I worry a lot for his skin since he doesnt use any sunscreen. What is it with Caucasians and brown skin? He was willing to lie in the heat of the sun for hours just to get a tan. I had to beg him to put on some sunscreen. He relented after a while and put some on his NOSE! He said its the first thing that gets burned. Maybe because its too long. Hahaha! He calls it the Klarsfeld nose which all of them inherited from their dad.

Anyway, he's coming back on the 9th of February! After a year without each other, we will finally see each other's noses. hehe. Life had been extra special in 2008.  This year, we hope to start our life together with God's blessing as husband and wife starting March.  There are soooo many things to prepare and we have only started with the documents which took a really long time. Before I panic, I need Ana Karenina to send me the list! gawd!
